The Regina Margherita Mountain Hut, on the Punta Gnifetti of Monte Rosa at 4554 m is the pride of the Cai Varallo who has renovated and managed it for more than 100 years. Clearly visible even from the valley floor, it imposes itself on the sight of anyone who looks towards the peaks. It is the highest refuge in Europe, it host an important physical-meteorological observatory and is dedicated to Queen Margaret of Savoy who stayed there in 1893, the year of the inauguration. Today it is entrusted in management with the Gnifetti hut by the Monterosa Srl Refuges that is transitioning it to a future made of attention, hospitality and technology.
